Agrienergies: Opportunities for the Salento Lecce from 160 million €

Agrienergies: Opportunities for the Salento Lecce from 160 million €

Friday, November 26, 2010 in Tenuta Caradonna SS 101 Lecce - Gallipoli Km 8 Workshop was held on "The chains agroenergy Area Convergence: an opportunity for the area.

--------------------------------

I did not know if he should write, but when I noted that many of my colleagues called me to ask what had happened on the afternoon of Friday, November 26, 2010 on the estate Caradonna, where he held a conference on agro-energy, I realized what had happened something important. Friday there was this, but there was also my friend, Professor. Luigi De Bellis at the book fair where he coordinates Dario Campi Stefano and Francesco Pace in a dialogue with Paolo De Castro, the author of the book "European agriculture and the new global challenges" (ed. Donzelli), then the president Casarano Giulio Sparasci CIA had invited me to a conference on the CAP post 2013, but the call of the President of my order that I begged to replace Lequile took away the mess of having to choose between three interesting initiatives all at the same time on the same day and the same interest.

A Lequile del Salento Lecce were all from Mr. Paolo De Castro, President of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Parliament, the President of the Province of Lecce Dr. Antonio Gabellone and ending with John Stephen, commissioner to the energy policies of the Province of Lecce and the Mayor of Lequile Caiaffa Antonio.

Exquisite guest Agronomist Mr President Wholesale Holy Fedagri Puglia has wisely led the work started at 16.00 and finished around 19:30.

To tell you all I have to talk to the leaves and photosynthesis to capture solar energy that is converted into chemical energy, namely the wood and those twigs you see piled in the forest of olive trees in the Salento Lecce and the residue from the extraction of oil from olives, which can provide energy through combustion.

When it comes to burning it comes to fire, as we shall see what will soon shine in Novoli for "Focara. Fires that it is forbidden to be hanged in the countryside of Salento, Lecce, because we all know that the Legislative Decree no. 152/2006 considers pruning waste residues of agricultural and agro-industrial and therefore places them among the "special waste" and then prohibits burning in the countryside. What do the branches?

Meanwhile, the trees are removed by pruning about 20 pounds of prunings in Salento, Lecce, we have 9 million olive trees, we can say that there are about 200 000 tonnes of twigs.

It is known that the olive tree has a fairly high calorific value and pruning, when processed, can be used both for large power boilers for biomass housewives.

To collect from chipping or the pruning of the olive are suitable for the purpose of the machinery.

Currently, the biomass market does not exist, or relates to very few people, but the White Paper on Renewable Energy of the European Union and the Kyoto Protocol argue that the way of using the residues as "biomass" is an opportunity for the territory of Salento in Lecce.

In 1995 only 1.9% of global consumption of primary energy came from wood and agro-industrial solid waste, today opens the way to possible employment. In a note I had assumed the cost-effectiveness of a small power generator fueled by biomass of 50 kW but then I heard from Dino Tabasso, delegate to the table Confcooperative POI Energy, told me that the notice has been closed for investigation in the efficiency energy of the hospitals in the area of electronic distribution of heat for 60milioni euro and a 30 for the implementation of measures to support the production of energy from renewable sources, addressed to governments, regions, provinces, municipalities and mountain communities.

While the upgrading of school buildings, in relation to energy efficiency, retrofitting of the plants and killing of architectural barriers was finalized already published a notice of € 20 million. The towns and ancient villages, however, for "energy efficiency measures and interventions on the distribution of heat, have at their disposal a contract of 80 million, which is also already published. I listen with interest the story of the Memorandum of Understanding between UPI Confcooperative Puglia and Provinces for the Development of Die agroenergetic and efficiency and energy saving in agriculture and agribusiness. An agreement that promotes renewable energy sources, "an opportunity for agriculture", referring to the White Paper on ' Energy of the European Commission provides assistance to the agricultural sector of member countries through "substantial increases in biomass from agricultural production and food processing."

Salento in Lecce is a resource represented by the plant biomass and crop residues from agricultural and agro-processing, which I consider important in view of the development of agricultural income and the industry refers to it.

Listening to the call of my colleague Agronomist Angelo Martino President Oleificio cooperative Monteroni and also the head of the cooperative cellar in Arnesano that calls for the Province of Lecce to take charge of putting together all the producers to create a chain able to use the biomass from agriculture in the Salento Lecce. The pomace to produce tons must become a source of income. The opportunity is that of the biomass power stations that could use and enhance the local biomass.

I spoke too, but do not tell you what, so you learn when you take part in the proceedings of a conference to stay until the end to come or when there are meetings like one held in the estate of Caradonna Lequile representing a celebration of agriculture and opportunities for all.
